This is a collection of reflections from mamas after several sessions in Behavior Support Coaching. These mamas reside in Folsom, El Dorado Hills, and Placerville with little ones ages 2 to 6 years of age.

What is the most valuable part of our time together?

Feeling more positive about myself

The most valuable part of our time together was, for me, being able to lay all of my concerns and worries about motherhood and my relationship with my son out on the table and have someone (kindly) pick them apart with me. You are so knowledgeable, grounded, and reassuring. Talking to you felt easy and therapeutic.

Receiving objective feedback on how I am handling parenting scenarios.

Feeling safe to be myself and knowing I will not be judged.

How has the relationship with your child changed?

More playtime and bonding together

I am able to notice the positive moments with my son more since working with you.

We made changes in our home and bedtime routine that has allowed us to have our quiet bonding time with stories before bed back. I have been able to let go of resentments and feel love for my son again.

Starting to improve with an understanding of what leads to his behaviors. He is not manipulating me, he is anxious and fearful and it comes out as anger and a need for control. He comes to me for hugs when he is worried during potty time. I think he can do this now because I am calmer and more attuned to his needs.

What would you like to target in more depth or focus on?

I am more patient and grounded

I feel like our time together has helped me be easier on myself and give myself more grace.

Rebecca helped me see that my children don’t need me to be perfect, and I don’t need to go above and beyond to win their love. I just need to be present for them a little each day. That is doable and much less pressure than I was putting on myself.

With your reassurance, I’m beginning to trust myself more. I don’t have to be like the other moms. Negative self-talk is a red flag I need to pay attention to.

Less defensive

I would like to work on it more, but I feel like I have been more loving towards him because I am more loving towards myself.

Be more consistent

How to fulfill my three year old’s constant need for someone to “play with me.”

Continue to build self-esteem and confidence as a parent.
