Meet Rebecca

Hi there!  I'm Rebecca, mama to a sweet boy and rambunctious little girl, and loving partner to my college sweetheart.  My family and I moved to Placerville 6 years ago from Santa Cruz and we are in love with the warmth and community found here in the Sierra Foothills.

I wear the hat as household manager, while my hubby farms vineyards and makes wine in the area. Our kiddos and our puppy dog can be found running circles around us. When I'm not spending time with my family exploring the beauty of our surroundings, you'll find me filling my cup literally while sipping on coffee with a girlfriend or getting in a yoga practice at one of our local studios.
When I work with mamas, babies, and families, I provide care and support to you and your family during the exciting time of expectancy and into your baby and toddler's first years of life.

I support growing families as they prepare for their sweet babe and throughout the years of transition into parenthood. With a community of support, families can blossom in this new stage of life.
My intention is to bring healing and love to my community through attention, presence, and warmth with new and evolving families. Prenatal, postpartum, and parenthood support is here!

You may be looking for a parenting class to help prepare you for parenthood. I offer a parenthood prep for expectant couples series. Learn more here: dahliamama.com/couples

A Little About My Story & Background

After birthing my son in 2013, I became fixated on birth and motherhood.  What an amazing and difficult transition.

No one had prepared me and my family.  At least not enough.  How could I help others in need?

I took great pleasure in attending a Labor Doula Intensive with Janine Maitri of Sierra Childbirth Institute as she opened my eyes to the world of home birth.

Birth can be a rite-of-passage, incredibly empowering, freeing, liberating, amazing, and oh so beautiful.

Now I know this firsthand.  My experience birthing my daughter in 2016 made it clear to me that my continues work would be in supporting mothers. I have learned through professional training and personal experience that each mother has a choice in birth intentions, her postpartum experience, and has many opportunities in motherhood to reparent herself, overcome generational trauma, and give the gift of love and presence to her children, her partner, and the world.

I earned my Masters degree in Psychology in 2008 and practiced as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst for years helping hundreds of families to teach their children with special needs reach their full potential.  Little ones learned to speak for the first time, hug for the first time, or simply make eye contact and smile for the first time when in early childhood intervention.  I implemented comprehensive learning programs for a variety of children and primarily worked with parents to teach them how to successfully teach their children.  I gave my heart and soul to this work, yet as I grew in motherhood, so did my work.

My firstborn came into the world when I was strong willed, fiercely independent to a fault, and didn't allow for vulnerability in my life or show signs of weakness to others or ask for support. It turns out I couldn't do it all yet I thought I could then. Difficult and trying times followed and I experienced postpartum anxiety and postpartum depression, as well as significant breastfeeding challenges. Postpartum was not ideal as I didn't welcome help openly.

Fast forward to my second babe, in which I planned a homebirth, planned for appropriate postpartum care via family and a postpartum doula, and welcomed and accepted help. I allowed my body to rest in that I lived in bed with my baby for two weeks postpartum. This felt amazing and restorative for my body, mind, and heart.

I want others to experience how rich of an experience birth and mamahood can be. And for those that did not have an ideal birth or transition into motherhood, I've been there too. Ideal does not always occur and this is how we grow and learn. I desire to support each mama to reach her full potential.

My work now encompasses both mama and child. Being born again as a mother has opened my eyes to the sacred role that motherhood is to herself, her children, and the world. I now approach families with a holistic approach as a Behavior Support Coach, meeting each family's unique needs and honoring their parenthood journey, alongside offering practical evidence-based strategies in our work together.
